Privacy Policy – Rastpfote

Last updated: September 2026

Rastpfote helps you find dog-friendly rest stops along your route. Protecting your data matters to us. This policy explains which data the app processes and why. Rastpfote uses no user accounts, shows no advertising and does no tracking.

2. Location data

When you use the location button or the announce mode, the app accesses your device location – only with your permission. The location is used to calculate your route and to announce good stops.

• Your location is not stored permanently and is not linked to your identity.
• To calculate address search, route and map, coordinates are transmitted to our service provider Geoapify (processing on our behalf).
• Legal basis: performance of your request and legitimate interest in the core function (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).

3. Data stored on your device

The following is stored only locally on your device (localStorage), not on a server: saved routes, your place ratings, your dog's name and the chosen language. You can delete it at any time by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app.

4. Community ratings

When you rate a rest stop as "good", "littered" or "closed", this rating is transmitted – together with the identifier of the place (from OpenStreetMap) – to our database (Supabase, server location EU/Frankfurt) so that others can benefit from it. These ratings are anonymous – no names, accounts or device identifiers are stored.

5. Services used (processors/third parties)

• Geoapify GmbH – maps, address search, routes. Privacy: geoapify.com/privacy-policy
• Supabase – storage of anonymous place ratings (EU region). Privacy: supabase.com/privacy
• OpenStreetMap – map data of the rest stops. osmfoundation.org

All transmission is encrypted (HTTPS).

6. No advertising, no tracking

Rastpfote contains no advertising networks, no analytics/tracking services and creates no user profiles.

7. Retention period

Location data is used only for the respective calculation and is not stored. Local data stays on your device until you delete it. Anonymous ratings remain in the database in order to maintain the community function.

8. Your rights

You have the right to information, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR), as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. As we do not store any personal data linked to your identity, please direct any requests to the contact address above.
